Amazon. com Help Prime Exclusive Phone

The new Nokia 6 will likely be Amazon’s next Prime Exclusive Phone

HMD Global, the Finnish company that now owns the rights to manufacture Nokia phones, has announced that the new Nokia 6 will be coming to the US in early July. The press release says the phone will initially be sold exclusively through Amazon. There’s a distinct difference between a phone being sold exclusively on Amazon and a phone being a Prime Exclusive Phone, which is a phone that Amazon heavily discounts in exchange for adding lockscreen ads, but it’s starting to look likely that the Nokia 6 will be newest device to be offered through the Prime Exclusive Phone program.

I received a tip last month that the next Prime Exclusive Phone would be the Nokia 6. This phone was revealed in January as “the first Nokia smartphone powered by Android” but has officially not been released in the US yet. I couldn’t verify the tip at the time, so I didn’t post about it, but now that we know Amazon and Nokia have at least teamed up to sell the phone, it seems plausible that the relationship between the two companies might go deeper.

The Nokia 6 has been well-received thus far and seems like a very good mid-range phone. It features a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16MP rear-camera, 8MP front-camera, 32GB of storage, microSD card slot, and a 3,000mAh battery. The Nokia 6 runs a completely pure version of Android Nougat without any added junk from the manufacturer.

HMD Global says the Nokia 6 will have a retail price of $229 and be available in silver and matte black. If the phone does join Amazon’s Prime Exclusive Phone program, I’d expect that version to be priced between $179 and $189. That would make it a solid contender to the $185 Moto G5 Plus, which joined the Prime Exclusive Phone list earlier this year. If things do pan out that way, it’ll be difficult choosing between the two phones. On one hand the Moto G5 Play slightly outperforms the Nokia 6 in benchmarks, but the Nokia has 1GB more RAM, better cameras, and better build quality.

This phone is an excellent value for what it is. It feels like a more expensive phone with a nice 720p display (with gorilla glass), a passable camera, solid construction and good battery life.

The ads are not very intrusive. They appear on the lock screen and in some of the free Amazon apps downloaded from Amazon's store.

This is otherwise a regular Android 6 Marshmallow installation, complete with the Google Play store and all Google services. Amazon also preinstalled their app store and its many free applications available to Prime customers. It's really the best of both worlds.

The Blu R1 HD is not compatible with Sprint or Verizon networks here in the United States but should work with most other carriers. The phone has two sim slots and is unlocked with no carrier contracts or commitments.

Here’s every device available through Amazon Prime Exclusive phones

Moto Z3 Play and G6 Play come out to play on Amazon Prime Exclusive Phones

What are Amazon Prime Exclusive phones?

Back when the Prime Exclusive phones program began, Amazon shipped such devices with lock screen ads and various targeted advertisements. Now that Amazon no longer includes ads on its prime Exclusive phones, there’s very little downside to grabbing yourself a discounted smartphone.

Each Prime Exclusive phone comes automatically signed into Amazon’s services and apps, including (but not limited to) Prime Video, Prime Music, cloud storage service Prime Photos, and ebook-lending program Prime Reading. They also come with Prime’s other benefits, including one free ebook every month, two-day shipping on 50 million items, one-day shipping, same-day shipping in more than 5,000 cities and towns, and more.

It’s not exactly surprising that Prime Exclusive Phones have been a resounding success. According to Amazon, the discounted devices have been “constantly featured” in the top-five best-selling unlocked phones list on Amazon and among the “top-rated” unlocked smartphones on Amazon. com.

The lineup has grown considerably in the past few years, and the discounts are nothing to shake a stick at. Here’s every device that’s currently available through Amazon Prime Exclusive Phones.

Moto Z3 Play

If you’re interested in Motorola’s Moto Mods, but don’t like the cost associated with flagship phones, then the Moto Z3 Play should be of interest. It comes with a huge 6-inch AMOLED display (running a 2,160 x 1,080 resolution), it’s super-thin, and it features the decently powerful midrange Snapdragon 636. There are two camera lenses on the back of the phone — a 12-megapixel lens and a 5-megapixel lens — and they’re pretty capable for a midrange phone. The battery is the real standout here, and we reckon it will echo the Moto Z2 Play with a two-day battery life. Finally, it’s compatible with Motorola’s entire range of Moto Mods. At $50 off the $500 retail price, the Prime Exclusive Moto Z3 Play is a real bargain.

Moto G6 Play

The Moto G6 may be one of our favorite budget phones, but don’t discount the Moto G6 Play. You’ll find the same 5.7-inch screen as the G6, though it’s running a lower 720p resolution and a lower-powered Snapdragon 430 inside. It can be a bit sluggish, but if you’re not the sort of power user who bogs their phone down with big apps and games, then the processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage should be fine. The camera struggles in low light, but that’s par for the course for phones of this price — The two-day battery life, which blows the G6 out of the water, more than makes up for it. At almost $50 cheaper than the standard G6, this is an excellent phone for someone who needs a good phone at a great price.

The Moto G6 is one of our favorite budget phones of 2018. At just $235 through the Amazon Prime Exclusive Phones program, it’s a very good deal. On the Moto G6, you will find a 5.7-inch HD+ display (2,160 x 1,080), Snapdragon 450 processor, and 3GB of RAM. There is also 32GB of onboard storage, as well as a microSD slot that allows you to add an additional 128GB of external storage. And there’s more: The Moto G6 features a dual-camera setup with a 16-megapixel primary lens and 5-megapixel secondary lens. The best part — the Moto G6 works on all major U. S. carriers.

Motorola Moto X4

The Moto X4, one of Motorola’s newest flagships, starts at $280 for Amazon Prime members. In exchange for your hard-earned cash, you get a 5.2-inch Full HD screen (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), an octa-core Snapdragon 630 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage (with an expandable MicroSD card slot), and a 3,000mAh battery. But that’s not all. The body is IP68 rated, meaning it’s water-resistant in up to to 5 feet of water for 30 minutes, and houses a dual 12-megapixel camera on the rear and an 8-megapixel front camera. The Moto X4’s ace in the hole, though, is its broad network compatibility — it works with Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint.

LG G6 Plus

The G6’s big brother is also available through Amazon’s program. The G6 Plus is very similar to the standard G6, but it offers a hefty 128GB of storage and a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC to keep those audiophiles happy with the audio quality on their phone. It’ll cost a little extra at $520, and is compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

If you want a slightly more budget-minded phone, then the LG Q6 might be the right device for you. The phone features a design similar to the G6, but with a less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The rear-facing camera sits in at 13-megapixels, with the front-facing cam offering a 5-megapixel sensor. The Q6 is compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile, and costs $190.

If you just need a phone and aren’t too bothered about missing out on the latest hardware and gimmicks, then you can save a bunch with the LG K30. This entry-level device comes with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and the power-sipping Snapdragon 425 — but you can also boost the storage by up to 2TB with a MicroSD card, and it even comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for convenience. There are also decent cameras for this price range, with an 8MP lens on the back and a 5MP selfie shooter on the front. Interested? It can be yours for just $140, and is compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

LG Stylo 4

If you love using a stylus, the LG Stylo 4 may be the perfect phone. The Stylo 4 features a massive 6.2-inch display. There’s also a 1.8GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The battery comes in at 3,300mAh, meaning you should have no problem making it through the day. And the Stylo 4 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo, meaning you’ll be working with the latest OS.
