What Is Amazon Silk?

Amazon Silk is a next-generation web browser available only on Fire tablets and phones. Built on a split architecture that divides processing between the client and the Amazon cloud, Amazon Silk is designed to create a faster, more responsive mobile browsing experience.

Unlike other browsers, Amazon Silk has the vast capacity of Amazon Web Services (AWS) behind it. Using AWS, Amazon Silk analyzes aggregate web traffic patterns, preprocesses pages, and applies predictive algorithms to determine the fastest way to deliver content to the device.

To minimize latency and page load times, Amazon Silk routes requests through remote proxy servers powered by Amazon EC2. These cloud servers provide high-performance connection speeds and computing power not normally available to a mobile form factor.

The A-to-z Guarantee Program is for situations where a customer never received a product or received a product that is materially different from what was ordered or expected. We ask customers to first contact the seller when they have a problem. If the seller fails to resolve the problem, the customer can file an A-to-z claim. When Amazon receives the claim, we send the seller an automated email detailing the claim and requesting basic information from the seller about the order and the fulfillment process. Amazon will then determine how the claim will be settled, which may include reimbursement of the order to the customer, at the seller's expense.

When you sign up as a Professional Seller, you will have access to sell on our US, Canadian, and Mexican marketplaces through a North America Unified Account. This will enable you more easily to share product listing information and manage your inventory consistently across all three marketplaces. For all per-item transaction fees, sellers will pay the fees applicable to the marketplace in which the item was sold. If you're a Professional Seller, you will only be charged one monthly subscription fee for selling in North America.

If you already sell on Amazon in the US, Canada, or Mexico, you can use your existing bank account to receive disbursements in your local currency with the Amazon Currency Converter for Sellers (ACCS). If you are a new seller registering to sell in the US, Canada, or Mexico, you can be paid directly in your local bank account in the local currency, provided you have a bank account in a country supported by Amazon.

Amazon offers two selling plans. The Professional selling plan is available for a $39.99 monthly subscription fee plus per-item selling fees, which vary by category.

If you plan to sell fewer than 40 items a month, the Individual plan may be best for you. There is no monthly subscription fee. Instead, Individuals pay $0.99 per item sold plus other selling fees, which vary by category.

What Is Amazon Spark All About?

In essence, the Amazon Spark app is a social media platform. Users can post product photos, stories and ideas of things they’re interested in, and interact with other users based on common interests with comments and ‘smiles’, Amazon’s own like/favourite/upvote button. While any user can browse Spark, only Prime members can contribute to the content. And if you’re interested in the app, it’s available for both iOS and Android v. 14.2.1 or higher within the Amazon app.

How to Use Amazon Spark

As we mentioned, anyone with an Amazon app can check out what’s listed there. But if you want to post your own photos or comment on other people’s ideas, you’ll need a paid Prime membership. To get started with the Spark app, here’s what you do:

Tap on the main menu, tap ‘Programs and Features’, then tap ‘Amazon Spark’. Give Amazon your name and at least five interests. You can choose interests based on categories. There are the typical ones, like Toys or Books or Fitness. There are also more detailed categories, like TV Bingewatching or Internet of Things. Amazon will suggest related categories based on the interests you’ve chosen and suggest them to you in your feed. Next, set your notification preferences so that Amazon knows to show you relevant items, images and ideas that relate to the ones you’ve picked. If you’re in a shopping mood, Spark will display a shopping bag icon at the bottom of your screen where you can purchase the product. There will also be a number beside the bag so you can see how many of the product are available to buy on Amazon. If you’re on the fence about the product, you can ask for opinions from the community or even make a poll. If you’ve purchased something, Spark lets you leave a product review. The more you engage with the app, the more Amazon rewards you as an ‘Enthusiast’. This nets you a badge that shows up every time you post something or write a review.

Unlike Instagram, the product you’re interested in has a direct link to where you can purchase it. Your stream is very image-focused, which offers an easy way of visualising the ideas and content you’re interested in. You can instantly see if the product is in stock, and exactly how many items are available. Sellers will have an Amazon-specific social media platform to engage their buyers even further. Sellers also have the ability to find out exactly what their buyers want by creating polls and getting the information firsthand.
