Forever the Boss: Billionaire Romance

Hot and Steamy (Managing the Bosses Series Book 10) (19 page)

Unlocking the front door with her code, she walked down the narrow corridor and up the flight of stairs, avoiding the horrifying elevator she was certain was going to plummet and kill everyone the moment she stepped foot inside of it. Besides, taking the stairs was something good for the body. Walking up them, she ran into the other fairly reclusive and quiet neighbors she shared the building with. They would offer blank stares or soft smiles as they continued on their way. None of them were overly interesting, but all of them were unique in their own special way. There was little-dog-woman and hat-guy whom she saw on a regular basis. They were also fellow stair-dwellers as well. She liked that she had begun to recognize them.

On the fourth floor, she headed down the short hallway and passed the three doors to her little section of the apartment building. The door before hers belonged to Mr. Vargas, the grumpy, quiet old man who would stand out on the small balcony that he had and glare at everything. She didn’t know if he was maybe sensitive to the sun, but he’d just squint at everything, hunched over in his faded, mustard house-robe. The other room across the hallway belonged to Amber and Josie, who were sharing their little apartment with each other as they pursued their various careers with a rather haphazard approach.

Amber was a blonde goddess who worked at a club, tending at a bar that brought her hundreds of dollars in tips that she usually paid rent with, then partied the rest away. How a woman as beautiful, seductive, and personable as Amber was always without money always boggled Leslie’s mind. As for Josie, she was a struggling artist who refused to give up on the dream that one day she would make it famous. Until then she worked as a customer service representative at a call center, which let her come and go whenever she wanted and paid her just enough to contribute to rent and pay the bills. All in all they were fun, and Leslie loved living next door to them. They never asked her about her past or her future.

They’d developed a sort of open-door policy where they would meander into each other’s apartments without much concern to modesty or class. If they were drunk, coming home off of a particularly fun night, they always felt inclined to see what Leslie was doing. Since she was usually up writing or watching some sappy, sad movie on Netflix, they’d drop onto her sofa or raid her fridge as they regaled her with their stories, always vowing to take her out with them next time. She never pressed.

By the time she had her key in the door, she could hear movement across the hall and knew she wouldn’t be alone for long. As far as they were concerned, Leslie worked as a struggling cookbook writer and freelance article writer who just barely made enough for her apartment’s rent. But she suspected that Josie was beginning to question that, because though her apartment was small and it was in a pretty lame apartment building, it was still nicely furnished and she was always able to buy dinner, or lunch, or brunch, or a late night snack. None of them woke up early enough for breakfast. That was beyond question.

“Leslie!” Amber shrieked from her door, like she was calling to a long lost pet that had finally returned.

Leslie smiled and tossed her keys onto a small table that was sitting near the entryway. “Hey, Amber!”

Her apartment was minimal and tight. Immediately walking in, she passed her closet and was given the option of walking straight to her tiny living room/dining area or turning left into her kitchen that was small enough that she couldn’t do anything really fancy, even if she actually wanted to. Her bedroom and bathroom were accessible off of the living room, and were small enough that there really wasn’t much she could do with it. But, thanks to the gods of Pinterest and sheer boredom, she had made it her own and drawn the attention of Amber and Josie.

“Leslie!” Josie called out, excitedly rushing through their apartment and heading across the hallway to follow Amber into Leslie’s apartment. “So, how was it?”

“How was what?” Leslie asked, furrowing her brow and looking over her shoulder at Josie and Amber who were already raiding the wine she had and grabbing glasses.

“You’re all dressed up,” Amber added. Clearly they had been conspiring about what could possibly have drawn Leslie out of the apartment so well dressed. It was fairly common that Leslie, though she had a phenomenally toned body, only believed in wearing things she referred to as comfy clothes. There were always exceptions to this new-found rule in her life and that was when she went to the gym. For Amber to make the money she did in tips, she needed to be irresistible to the men at the club, so she would frequently go with Leslie to the gym, dragging along Josie, who thought of exercise as something torturous to someone like her who was given the glorious gift of a high metabolism. All in all, Leslie had simply dressed as she always had once upon a time, and this was obviously a cause of note for the two spies across the hall. “Was it a date? An interview? Oh shit, are you moving out?” Amber’s mind darted to a million scenarios.

“No,” Leslie laughed. “Just taking care of some business.”

“I’m not buying it,” Josie said with certainty in her voice. “Who is he? Is he that cute Asian guy from the gym?”

“Samurai?” Amber asked with a sad, defeated tone in her voice as her shoulders slumped. “I knew that he was checking you out and not me.”

“Shut up,” Leslie shook her head. “He was watching you non-stop.” She grabbed a Mickey Mouse cup and let Amber fill it with wine. “What are you two doing today?” She glanced at the clock and saw that it was only two in the afternoon.

“Work,” Amber made a snarl.

“Nothing,” Josie said, glancing over to the wall where Leslie had built shelves with her own two hands. The shelves were lined with books that she had picked up while living in New York. She’d built those shelves, intending to fill them up, and when she finally had she built more in the living room. Essentially, she’d lost her security deposit, but Leslie wasn’t going to sweat a thousand dollars.

Leslie watched Josie, knowing she was looking for a hint as to what she did for a living. Josie didn’t buy the article writing gig. Leslie was surprised that Josie still hadn’t noticed the letter of acceptance on the one shelf next to her diploma and degree that she had strategically laid down between plaques. She hadn’t hung it, as it reminded her of the day of the funeral when she’d taken it down from her old house.

“What’re your plans?” Josie asked, distracting her from the past.

“I don’t know.” Leslie took a long drink of wine. “I should work, but I’m not feeling it today.”

“Come to the club,” Amber begged. “Please, please, please! You never come and Josie always ends up bored at the end of the bar, getting hit on by guys while she doodles. Everyone’s miserable because you won’t come.”

Leslie let out a long sigh. She had never gone to Amber’s club, and for good reason. There was something about a dimly-lit cavern with lots of strobing lights, black lights, and a DJ blasting her ears that made her feel exhausted already. While she had been invited a hundred times over, she’d always found a decent reason not to go, but it was hard today to think of one today.

She was going to have to start living her life again at some point.

Amber was adventurous and wild, the kind of girl who would gladly make out with the cute guy checking her out and have a doomed whirlwind romance that inevitably imploded two weeks later, but gave her amazing stories to tell. Leslie had given Tiffany Black some of those adventures in her stories.

“Maybe,” Leslie shrugged.

“Maybe? Are you freaking kidding me?” Amber looked at Leslie, baffled, perplexed, and extremely pumped, like Christmas had just come early for her. The look was so adorable and so completely captivating that Leslie felt like she was obligated to go just so the expression wasn’t wasted on a false hope. “Josie, go get her the dress.”

“The dress?” Leslie lifted an eyebrow nervously. What had she just gotten herself into?

Josie drained her glass and ran across the hallway, her auburn hair flying as she raced with all her speed, no doubt making Mr. Vargas feel compelled to complain to the superintendent again that the three gorgeous women around him were making too much noise. The Super, Mr. Rutherford, usually told him to enjoy the view and stop complaining. He embodied the thoughts Leslie had on the situation completely. Half of the time, Amber and Josie were showing more skin than they were clothes and they were always nice to him. What more could an old bachelor want?

When Josie returned, she was holding a true red dress that was going to show off more than Leslie was ready for. She could already feel her heart palpitating at the thought of going out in it, but there was something inside the back of her mind that screamed,

Ooooooh, pretty!

Inevitably, it won out as she took it from Josie.

“Whoever said redheads shouldn’t wear red was an idiot,” Amber said sternly. “You’re going to look incredible in it. I promise you. If you don’t, I’ll buy you two slices.”

“Three,” Leslie bartered, chewing on her lower lip nervously. “My hair’s auburn. Not red. It’s brown with just hints of a reddish color.” She swallowed hard. “Fine, I’ll go.”

The Fall of Lord Drayson (Tanglewood Book 1) (32 page)

“Has it not?” came Mr. Ludlow’s response.

“You have changed your mind then?”

“I have not yet made up my mind one way or another,” came Colin’s answer. “But when I do, you shall be the. . .” he paused, glancing at Lucy, “

Second

To know.”

The hardened look was back in Mr. Ludlow’s eyes, but instead of responding, he bowed over Lucy’s hand again. “It has been a pleasure, Miss Beresford. I do hope I shall get an opportunity to stand up with you again.”

“I would like that very much,” said Lucy. Then he turned around and was gone, leaving Lucy alone with Colin in a crowded room. She frantically searched for her parents, Mrs. Bidding—anyone—only to have her view blocked by Colin moving in front of her.

“May I have this dance, Miss Beresford?”

She could not run, she could not hide, and she definitely could not slap his face like she wanted to do most. “No, you may not,” she said instead.

He looked beyond her and quirked an eyebrow. “Perhaps you wish to dance with Mr. Mead instead. He is headed this way with a rather determined look in his eye.”

Lucy hesitated. Dancing with Mr. Mead was like dancing with an excited puppy. He bounced, he trounced, and he always left her with a wet kiss on her hand.

“Very well,” she said, ignoring Colin’s arm as she led the way to the dance floor. When she turned around to face him, there was no Mr. Mead in sight. Her mouth dropped open, and she glared at Colin.

“You lied,” she mouthed.

“I have evened the score,” he mouthed back.

The music began and she handed him a limp hand that she pulled away the moment she switched partners. When they came together again, Colin asked, “How is your garden?”

“And your riding?”

“Have you read any interesting books lately?” he tried again.

“At last.” He grinned. “A different answer than ‘good.’ I call that progress.”

Lucy left him and took another’s hand. Almost immediately her arms began bouncing up and down, and she glanced at her new partner to see that Mr. Mead had joined the dance. Well of course he had, she thought dryly. Lucy vowed then to never attend another ball as long as she lived.

When she took hands with Colin again, he pulled her slightly closer than necessary, and her traitorous body shivered in response. She would not be undone by him, she would

Not

.

“It is a good thing we did not meet at a ball,” he said. “I would have found you very dull indeed.”

“Perhaps we

Should

Have met at a ball,” she snapped back. “Only think of all the disappointments we could have avoided.”

His lips lifted into a half smile. “Ah, there is the spark I have come to love.”

Lucy had never been more grateful to exchange hands. She ripped hers from Colin’s and practically latched on to Mr. Mead, not caring that he shook her about. How dare Colin speak of love? How dare he walk into her ball, ask her to dance, and expect her to behave as though he had not split her heart in two?

It took every ounce of strength within her to take his hands again. How long would this blasted dance continue? As the last notes finally faded away, Lucy released the earl’s hand and left him standing on the dance floor without a word. She strode quickly through the crowded room, needing some air. A few people called out to her, but she pretended not to hear. She needed to be free from people, the noise, the sounds, and especially Colin. Thankfully, she knew this house well and quickly located the hidden side door where she could escape to the library, and on through that to the darkened conservatory. She had discovered this beautiful glass-encased room within a day of her arrival at Knotting Tree. It wasn’t quite the same as being outside, but it was a close second.

She breathed in the luscious aroma of vegetation and sank down on a marble bench, dropping her head to her hands. What a coward she had been. Though she had lasted through to the end of the dance, the moment the music ended, she had picked up her skirts and fled. Eventually she would have to return, but how could she possibly do so with her head held high?

“May I join you?” a voice said from the darkness. Lucy lifted her head, but she did not have to look behind her to see who had spoken. She would recognize that voice anywhere.

He must have taken her silence for a yes because he sat down beside her. After a few moments, he spoke quietly. “As I told Mr. Ludlow, I have not sold Tanglewood yet.”

“What are you waiting for?” Lucy asked. “Simply sign the papers and be done if that is what you wish.”

“I do wish it,” he said. “Tanglewood has been nothing but a drain on our holdings during the past several years. Besides the manor house, all the tenant homes are in serious need of repair. It will take a great deal of money and time to restore it to a respectable state, and for what purpose? My family’s home is in Danbury. It is a beautiful, fully restored estate that is quite lucrative, and it also happens to be close to several other holdings in which we are invested. I have no idea what Mr. Ludlow’s reasons are for desiring Tanglewood, but he wants it. He wishes to make something of it and has the means and the time to make it happen. He has also offered a large sum that is worth more than Tanglewood at the moment. I would be a fool to pass on his offer.”

Lucy felt her spirits sink lower with every word he uttered. How could she have ever held out hope that he would want to make Tanglewood his home? It seemed such a silly, juvenile hope now.

“I do not understand what the problem is,” said Lucy.

“Do you not?” he whispered, angling his body toward her. “

You

Are the problem. You and only you.”

Lucy’s eyes snapped to his in confusion. How could

She

Be the problem? Granted, there had been a time when she had been a very big problem, but she and her mother had since moved out of the dower house, and Lucy had not stood in his way since.

One of his fingers grazed hers, as though testing it. When she did not flinch or draw away, he slid his hand under hers and curled his fingers through hers.

“I have fallen in love with you, Miss Lucy Beresford,” he said. “More than anything, I want to ask you to be my wife.”

Lucy gasped. For a few moments she did not breathe at all, and then her breath came in and out in short bursts, as though she had just raced across the meadow and could not catch her breath. Had Colin just asked for her hand? Or hadn’t he? She didn’t quite know, but she felt a burst of joy that gave her reason to hope.

He sandwiched her hand between both of his. “As I explained to you earlier, it does not make sense for my family or me to remain in Askern. But perhaps, together, we can find a way to make it work, if that is your wish. If not”—he swallowed—“then by asking you to be my wife, I am asking for you to leave your home, your family, and all you hold dear and come with me to Essex. I have been wrestling with this for weeks, telling myself it was not fair to ask such a thing of you, attempting to figure out a way to remain here, and feeling like there was no good resolution. So here I am, unloading my problems to you while hoping and praying that you can aid in the solution of them. You—”

“I most certainly can help,” Lucy blurted. “It is quite a simple solution, really. Sign your name on that dratted contract and ask me to be your wife. Or have you already asked me? I am a little unclear on that point.”

He studied her a moment, his brows furrowed. “Of course I have, but I do not think you realize what I’m asking. Your mother—”

“My mother has Mr. Shepherd now,” said Lucy. “And he has her. And I will always have them both no matter where I live. You say that I will be leaving all that I hold dear behind, but that is not the case at all. You have become far dearer to me than anyone else in this world, so why in heaven’s name would I choose to remain behind when you are offering me a great deal more? Can you not see that? I choose

You

, Colin. Always you.”

He let out a breath that sounded more like a strangled chuckle. “I did not dare hope,” he said. “I knew you cared for me, but then you said you could not imagine living anywhere else. I thought if we had more time, I might convince you that—”

“Colin, you have just asked me to be your wife, and I have given you my answer in as straightforward a manner as I know how. I believe it is long past time for you to kiss me and put an end to this silly conversation. And in the future, I hope you will think to ask my opinion sooner rather than later.”

He chuckled. “Given the force with which you speak your mind, I suspect I will not need to ask it.”

“And I shall continue to speak my mind,” she answered. “Now kiss me, or I shall have to resort to kissing you, and we both know how unseemly that would be.”

“Because you never behave in an unseemly way,” he teased, framing her face with his large, warm hands.

“If I am to be the wife of an earl, my behavior must always be above reproach, mustn’t it?”

He kissed her then, and Lucy kissed him back. In that moment, everything felt exactly as it should.

“Don’t ever change for anyone, my love,” Colin whispered against her lips. “I prefer you exactly as you are.”

A door opened somewhere, but Lucy did not care and neither did Colin it seemed. He continued to kiss her quite soundly until a shrill voice rudely interrupted their happy moment.

“Lord Drayson, Miss Beresford!” gasped Mrs. Bidding. “You must stop this at once!”

Colin smiled against Lucy’s lips before he slowly drew back and pulled Lucy to her feet beside him. “Is there a problem, Mrs. Bidding?” he asked.

“My lord,” she said, her eyes narrowing. “I may have looked the other way before, but I can do so no longer. I must insist you go to Mr. Shepherd at once and do the honorable thing by Miss Beresford.”

“You are quite right, Mrs. Bidding. If you’ll excuse us, we shall go straightaway.” Colin began to lead Lucy passed a shocked Mrs. Bidding, only to hear her say, “We?”

Colin glanced over his shoulder. “Yes. We.”

“Always we,” Lucy agreed. “Thank you so much, Mrs. Bidding, for finally making Lord Drayson see reason. I must admit, I had quite lost hope. Now I owe all my happiness to you.”

“Oh, well. . . of course, my dear. Anything for you.” Mrs. Bidding had never looked more pleased.

As Colin led Lucy from the room, he whispered, “I thought you were through with telling tales.”

“That was not a fib,” said Lucy. “That was creative truth-telling, and it is a perfectly acceptable thing to do.”

“For the daughter of a vicar, you have very loose standards. Breaking vows, inventing lies, picking locks, stealing plows, allowing yourself to be thoroughly compromised—not once but several times—and now bending the rules of truth and deceit to suit your wiles. I find myself quite shocked indeed.”

“Prepare yourself then,” warned Lucy. “For the most shocking thing is yet to come.”

“Dare I ask what that could possibly be?”

“Certainly,” she said. “I would very much like you to convince the orchestra to play a waltz, ask me for a dance, and continue to dance with me the remainder of the evening.”

His eyes widened in a dramatic show of astonishment. “How will our reputations withstand such scandal?”

“They shan’t,” teased Lucy. “So you see, it is a good thing we will be removing to Danbury.”

Colin laughed. Then he stopped and gave her one more kiss before they reentered the ballroom and went in search of Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd. They were both delighted that Lucy and Colin had finally figured things out. Hugs were extended to both, and when Mr. Shepherd made a public announcement, the room broke out in cheers and applause. Lady Drayson and Harriett rushed to congratulate the couple as well.

Several minutes later, when the orchestra began to play a waltz, Lucy glanced over in surprise to see Colin—

Her

Colin—walking away from the musicians and toward her with a devil of a smile on his face.

Harriett recognized the tune and leaned in close, whispering in Lucy’s ear. “I believe that you have agreed to marry quite the scoundrel.”

“It is a good thing I am rather fond of scoundrels,” said Lucy, allowing Colin to take her hand and bring it to his lips.

“If you are not otherwise engaged, Miss Beresford, might I have the honor of this dance?”

“You certainly may.” Lucy smiled as he swept her into his arms, held her much too close, and swirled her around and around and around. She used to think balls were horrid, tepid affairs where one had to always be on one’s best and dullest behavior, but how wrong she had been. If only Lucy had put a little more faith in her new papa’s wise counsel. How right he had been when he said her story was not near to being over yet.

Indeed, it was only just beginning.

Thanks so much for reading! I hope it gave you a break from the daily grind and rejuvenated you in some way. Everyone needs an escape from reality once in a while. This will be the start of a Tanglewood series, so if you enjoyed this book there will be a few more to come.

Pitched 3 New Wolf Tales!

Pictures I took of origami at the Minnesota arboretum and of Axel, emergent Arctic 2-year-old wolf at the International Wolf Center. And then of Holly, 2-year-old black bear at the bear center nearby.

So I pitched three new stories–red wolf Christmas (Leidolf’s pack), Billionaire Wolf (Rafe’s friend), and Wolff (2 brothers and 2 sisters that own the Timberline Ski Lodge in Silver Town) for publication in 2020.

Also, I asked if we could do a 10th year anniversary re-release of Destiny of the Wolf. Yes! This will be for 2019, and I’ll have 3 other new releases that year also: You Had Me at Jaguar, SEAL Wolf Surrender, and the Silver Bells Wolf Christmas, whatever the title will be. And I will be writing a brand new novella to include in the re-release of Destiny of the Wolf also.

Purple Halloween bear I make.

I finished a bear I need to send off to Australia, and was working on another Halloween bear, this one with orange fur (new fur). My Janome of decades conked out on me, so I had to buy a new heavy duty Singer, much lower price, but as much as I use them for as many years as I do, it’s still a cheap investment. My Janome cost me about $13 a year.

We received 2 inches of rain, yay! But it looks like we’re drying out after this. And it’s heating up, then finally starting to cool down a little bit. Yay!

I’m off to write on Cougar Magic, trying to write the final scenes. Only 10,000 words to go, then need to jump on the novella for Destiny of the Wolf. Then I’ll be working on Claiming the White Bear, I have some of them adrift on an ice floe and need to rescue them! What I do to my poor characters!

Have a great day.

Flight of the White Wolf Releases!

Flight of the White Wolf

The return of the white wolf pack!

I’ve lost count of my blog tour stops, but I’m at Fresh Fiction today, still working on A SEAL Wolf Christmas, hope to have 20K by this weekend, but I’m a LONG ways from it. I’ve had to do another interview, and guest blog, and those take time! It may look like they’re short and sweet and easy to write, but they’re not. And I had to rewrite my synopsis for A Highland Wolf Christmas for marketing and that took forever. And then I have to constantly drop into the sites where I’m the guest author to comment on commenters’ comments. It’s not enough to just write the blog. It’s important for me to interact with fans and potential fans. That can mean a lot of comments! And a lot of blogs to comment on until the contest runs it’s course at the site. But it’s still important to me. And blog site moderators appreciate it too.

So after I tell the world where I’m at today, I’ve got to get back to writing. A lot of what stops me is research. Is it warm enough to swim in a Montana lake in summer? Well, it’s 74 degrees and it’s getting too hot for their cold weather fish. Did you know that? Huckleberries are great to pick wild up there. We picked blackberries wild in Oregon and currant berries too. How do you make it into berry jam?

Can you hunt in the summer for elk or bear or deer or… no. How warm does it get in the summer? Eighty-two degrees. Hmmm, when it’s 105 here, I think I’ll go up there. It has one of the largest grizzly populations though. And they have several wolf packs. Which is why I picked it for my location. Lots of forests, lakes, rivers, perfect for a werewolf pack.

What do you do to protect yourself from a grizzly attack? What are signs one is in the area? Can you have a cabin on the lake? Some don’t allow homes on lakes, like at some Oklahoma lakes. So I always have to make sure it will work. I have that one of the cabins is in the mountains. Are their mountains that close? Yes. :)

I write something, and then have to stop and check to see if it works! :) And I’ll look up homes on the lakes that are for sale and use the pictures to describe the real places in my book. Also, like the scenery from the cabin decks–the sunset, the way the water looks. Scuba diving, the way the water looks beneath the surface. All of it is important to me.

They have black bears and grizzlies up there. This is a black bear at the wildlife reserve in Omaha. They can be difficult to tell apart sometimes from grizzlies and some hunters kill the grizzlies, thinking they are the black bear, that can be just as brown as the grizzly and if the grizzly is younger, can be mistaken for the smaller bear.

They had a bear hunting season in Arkansas. We lived in eastern Oklahoma near the Arkansas border where it was more mountainous and we had a lot of bear sightings. No hunting for bear in Oklahoma so they got smart and began to move into our state. :)

Do you have an animal guide? I’ve added that in this story. What draws you to a particular animal? If you visit a zoo or wildlife reserve, what is the animal you most want to see? Do you have a particular animal you admire most? Have you had a sign that indicates that animal is your guide? So if you have an animal guide, what does this indicate? I had to discover this as well. :)

I love the research though because it often gives me ideas of where to go with the story. Like about the grizzlies in the area, or the pitchforks in the lake. Or the wolf poachers. Or an old story I read about wolves that led to another pack’s demise, which I will incorporate into this story. That story has bothered me since I read it a couple of years ago in my research, so I decided I would use it in the telling of this story. I have used several real wolf tales in my werewolf stories.

I can’t remember what this was at the Spring, Texas Botanical Gardens, but I loved the lacy flower like leaves and took a picture of them, and they’re so dramatic.

Hope to get somewhere today on my writing. I have 7,000 words left to go to make my goal.

Isn’t that a beautiful picture? Don’t you wish I knew what it was? I think it was an oak, something. :) You’d think I’d research it and find out…. :)

Woodland Fae is Out.

Letta is a scorpion fae, pretending to be a woodland fae, since her own kind had practically annihilated their own. She’s come of age and must leave her kind behind to make her way in the world. Taking refuge in a cave during a storm in wolf fae territory, she’s attacked by a wolf shifter fae and saves another’s life, who happens to be the pack leader’s sister. But now Letta has a new problem. The bite she’d received turns her into a wolf shifter also, but will the wolf fae pack accept her or scorn her for being one of the deadly scorpion fae if they learn the truth?

Simon is the pack leader for the Wolf Mountain pack and he’s unsure what kind of fae Letta is, not having heard of a woodland fae before. Yet he’s attracted to Letta like he’s never been to a she-wolf before. That causes dissent among some of his wolves who believe another wolf should be his mate and he must prove to his pack that he has what it takes to lead.

The Witch and the Jaguar–a novella is out!

A full moon on Halloween means magic and mayhem are sure to follow.

Erin Hawkins is a JAG agent with the jaguar shifters police force and she’s all set to attend the shifters’ Halloween party as a sexy witch, the first time she’s not been on a mission in three years. Between the full moon’s appearance and it being Halloween, havoc and magic prevail when she and a musketeer, an off-duty cop with the human police force and jaguar shifter, Bryce Jenkins, helps her thwart a bank robbery in progress. He wins her over with his sword-wielding antics, until she realizes he broke up her brother and his girlfriend’s relationship the previous year.

Bryce has wanted to take out Erin ever since he saw her in jaguar training, but he’s not sure she’d be interested in someone who doesn’t work for the jaguar policing force. Still, he’s determined to show her a good time and give him a chance and to straighten out a matter about him and her brother’s former girlfriend.

From home invasions to bank robberies, have they got what it takes to watch each other’s backs, eliminate the bad guys, and have fun too? They will, if it doesn’t kill them first!

Darkland Elf…8 Years in the Making!

As a motivational inspirer, Eloria’s mission is to convince her friend Persephonice to leave the elf world behind. She knows that if she can’t, she will be stuck in their world herself. But what she finds in the primitive elf world is magic and a connection she never thought possible.

Viator is a prince of the darkland elves and captures one of those extraordinary creatures like Persephonice to turn over to his father, but his people worry about the prophecy where a girl from another world would take over their kingdom. He’s not giving her up as he realizes he needs her to help fulfill his mission to make his wings transparent. And she has to see where his dangerous quests will take them both…if they can survive the trials.

I finally finished the sequel for Shadow Elf. Enjoy!

Okay, off to spread the word! I was busy with working on edits for Cougar Magic, adding another 2,000 words to the novella, Night of the Wolf, and working on The Countess and the Wolf (an older story that I’ve been revising periodically about a Highlander, Saxon countess, and her Norman step-family during the period of William the Conqueror after he took over rule.) But I’ve made it into a historical wolf shifter story, so still working on that. Love the changes so far.

Have a wonderful day. I’m off to howl to the world that a new book is out!!
