The sale of all lighting equipment for bicycles on the Amazon. de website must be in compliance with the requirements of the German Road Traffic Ordinance (Strassenverkehrszulassungsordnung - StVZO). According to the StVZO, bicycle lights and other lighting equipment for bicycles can only be distributed in Germany if the manufacturer has been granted a general type approval (Bauartgenehmigung) for the product by the German Federal Road Traffic Authority (Kraftfahrtbundesamt). The general type approval is documented by an approval mark and approval number that must be affixed on the bicycle light itself. Please note that bicycle lights with a blinking setting are generally not permitted in Germany and will hence never have a general type approval. The approval mark is always a sine wave followed by the letter “K” and a 4-digit number:K****



Please note that lighting equipment that falls under this regulation is every equipment that is objectively capable to be affixed to a bike. For example, it is irrelevant if the product is designated in the advertising claims to be for a children scooter, hiking stick or backpack, or if the advertising contains a disclaimer that the product is intended for offroad use only and not for road traffic – if the product is objectively capable to be affixed to a bike then the product must have a type approval as outlined above.

Rental Book Service Fee



For each textbook rental that is sold, sellers pay a rental book service fee of USD $5.00.



Closing fees



Sellers also pay a closing fee of $1.80 per media item that is sold. Media categories are Books, DVD, Music, Software & Computer/Video Games, Video, Video Game Consoles, and Video Game Accessories.



High-Volume Listing Fee



We charge a monthly High-Volume Listing Fee of $0.005 per eligible ASIN to cover our system costs associated with cataloging and maintaining large numbers of ASINs on Amazon. com. To be eligible for the High-Volume Listing Fee in a given month, an ASIN must meet the following criteria:



The ASIN is listed in a non-Media category. Media categories include: Books, DVDs, Music, Software, Computer/Video games, Video Game Consoles, and Video Game Accessories, among others. You have had an active offer on the ASIN at some point during the month. The ASIN was created at least 12 months ago. ASINs created less than 12 months prior are not eligible for the fee. The ASIN has not sold in the previous 12 months.



To help you grow the selection of products you offer on Amazon, we waive the High-Volume Listing for the first 100,000 ASINs that meet the above criteria. We apply the fee to your highest number of eligible ASINs above 100,000 during that month. You can view the number of eligible ASINs by going to the Inventory tab in Seller Central, selecting Inventory Reports, and then selecting High Volume Listings Report from the drop-down menu on the page.



For example, if during a month, you had active offers on 300,000 eligible ASINs, then we would charge you a fee of $1,000, calculated as $0.005 on the 200,000 ASINs that are above your free allowance of 100,000 eligible ASINs.



The fee will be calculated and charged monthly and shown in the next month's statement.

Refund administration fee



If you refund a customer for an order for which you have already received payment, Amazon will refund you the amount of the referral fee you paid for the item(s), minus the applicable Refund Administration Fee, which is the lesser of $5.00 or 20% of the applicable referral fee.



For example, if you refund a customer the $10.00 total sales price of an item in a category with a 15% referral fee, your Refund Administration Fee will be $0.30 ($10.00 x 15% referral fee = $1.50).

Ahead of the publication of our Amazon FastMovers reports for March 2016, we take a close look at the best sellers on Amazon. com for Pet Supplies, and share a few takeaways about the category’s relative volatility, top brands, and program eligibility.



Pet Supplies FastMovers Stability



Pet Supplies has remained a stable category



Back in October 2015, we looked at the volatility in Pet Supplies—a measure of products’ average tenure among the best sellers. Pet Supplies was ranked the #1 category for having the highest average tenure on the FastMovers list. The average Pet Supplies FastMover stayed on the Pet Supplies FastMovers list for 28 days.



Since then, Pet Supplies FastMovers have been slightly more volatile, but still remain relatively stable. For each month, the average Pet Supplies FastMover stayed on our FastMovers list for at least 20 days, suggesting that brands that earn top positions within the category have a reasonable chance of maintaining their strong foothold.

There are several noteworthy observations regarding the leading brands in pet categories:




    Greenies is the leading brand for pet treats categories.

    Greenies accounted for 15 products in Dog Treats and 15 FastMovers in Cat Treats. Also, Greenies FastMovers in Dog Treats, on average, had 4,766 reviews, compared to 1,760 for Dog Treats FastMovers overall. Reviews have a chicken-and-egg dynamic; best sellers tend to get more reviews, and products with more reviews have a higher probability of becoming best sellers. We published more on how brands can get value from ratings and reviews here. All top brands showed high average star ratings.

    The top brand in all 4 categories showed an average of at least 4.6 stars for their FastMovers. Hill’s Science Diet just had 2 images, lower than top brands in other categories.

    While Hill’s Science Diet had a lower average image count compared to the average Dog Food FastMovers (2 v. 4), Hill’s Science Diet still ranked the #1 brand in Dog Food. Primary product images are critical to products’ discoverability on search result and category pages.



Pet Supplies Program Eligibility (Prime, Subscribe and Save)



Pet food categories are more popular for Prime



Looking at the Program eligibility for the top 100 FastMovers, it is clear that more FastMovers from pet food categories are eligible for Prime than pet treats categories. 94% of Dog Food FastMovers were eligible for Prime and 93% of Cat Food FastMovers were eligible for Prime.

Pet treats categories (top 10 FastMovers only) are the most popular for Subscribe and Save



When comparing the top 100 FastMovers in each category, Dog Food still has the highest Subscribe and Save program eligibility.



However, when we look at the Subscribe and Save eligibility within the top 10 FastMovers of each category, pet treats categories had higher eligibility than pet food categories. 90% of the top 10 Cat Treats FastMovers were eligible for Subscribe and Save, compared to just 30% of the top 10 Cat Food FastMovers.

    Pet Supplies continues to be a stable FastMovers category, with relatively low turnover among the best-selling brands and products. For all Pet Supplies categories, top brands have a high average star rating—at least 4.6 out of 5 stars. Finally, pet food and pet treats categories showed different program eligibility patterns, with pet food categories overall being more popular for Prime, and the top 10 FastMovers in pet treats categories being more popular for Subscribe and Save.
