Problem with Amazon: Important Message: Item cannot be shipped to the selected address. How to ship outs >

Amazon Shipping Restrictions

Warranty issues and manufacturer restrictions prevent us from shipping certain products to all geographical locations. In addition, some items too big to ship to a P. O. box must be shipped to a street address. You'll be notified while placing your order if we're unable to ship specific items to the address you've selected. Below are some general guidelines for items shipped by Amazon. com to the following destinations:

If you are purchasing an item from Amazon Marketplace, read about Marketplace shipping restrictions.

Books that require special handling because they are extremely heavy (for example, multi-volume sets) can be shipped only to locations within the U. S. Please also check the product detail pages for this and any other item-specific shipping restrictions.

Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico Addresses

Some items from our Tools & Hardware, Electronics, and Outdoor Living stores can't be shipped to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico if they are extremely heavy, oddly-shaped, or considered hazardous. Additionaly, some items from our Health and Personal Care store cannot be shipped to these destinations. Check the item's product detail page for eligibility and available shipping options. Only specific shipping options may be available for some addresses. Available shipping options will appear at checkout when you enter a shipping address.

APO, FPO, and DPO Addresses

Most items can be shipped to APO, FPO, and DPO addresses, Except:

    cell phones and service

    computers

    furniture

    grocery items

    outdoor living items

    Target@Amazon. com items

Additionally, some apparel, baby, camera and photo, electronics, health and personal care, housewares, jewelry, software, sports, and tools and hardware items cannot be shipped to APO, FPO, or DPO addresses. An error message will appear at checkout if you enter an APO, FPO, or DPO address and the item isn't eligible to be shipped to that address. Check the item's product detail page for eligibility.

DOS Addresses

Many items can be shipped to DOS addresses, Except:

Food items (for humans and/or pets)

    Some liquids

    Heavy items

    Items that look like weapons

For a full list of shipping restrictions at a specific DOS address, please contact the DOS facilities staff at that location or review the DOS restrictions beginning on page 26 here: http://www. state. gov/documents/organization/88704.pdf

U. S. Protectorates

Only the following items Can be shipped to U. S. Protectorates:

Amazon. com delivers to penitentiaries, but we strongly suggest you contact the prison first to confirm that they accept deliveries and to note any special regulations the prison might have. Some prisons don't allow delivery of hardcover books. Others place a limit on the number of items contained in a package.

We're unable to affix any special labels or instructions to the packages and on the outside will indicate only the destination address, our company name, and our return address. We also cannot allow gifts to be sent anonymously to inmates; the sender's billing address will appear on the order invoice.

Because inmates cannot sign for deliveries, packages must be sent via U. S. Mail. While Amazon. com often sends packages via U. S. Mail, we also use UPS and FedEx. There is no way for customers to request a specific shipper. To avoid delivery problems, you might consider having the items shipped to you and then shipping them to the penitentiary via U. S. Mail.

Overcoming Amazon Shipping Restrictions and shipping outside the US

Amazon. com accepts international debit and credit cards, so there are no problems paying for your items. But when ordering from Amazon. com you may get the following error message:

Important Message: Item cannot be shipped to the selected address

It is easy to overcome this limitation and ship to your country. Just get a virtual address in the USA using a company like Shipito. Shipito allows you to use virtual USA addresses. They have multiple locations in the USA. If you use their warehouse in Torrance, California, you will be able to consolidate your packages (if needed) and send them to your country by USPS Express Mail, USPS Priority Mail, Polonez Parcel, USPS Flat rate box and Flat rate envelope, FedEx, FedEx MPS, Fedex Freight, Shipito Air Mail, DHL.

FBA Export

At no extra charge, the FBA Export program can help you expand your business to more than 100 countries and regions.

International customers from more than 100 countries and regions can visit your home marketplace and shop for products that are eligible for FBA Export. Amazon helps you identify which of your products are eligible for FBA Export, fulfills your international orders, handles import duty and customs clearance, and ships your product to the international buyer’s address. International buyers pay international shipping costs and customs duty. There is no extra cost to you to fulfill FBA Export orders. You can exclude products and you can exclude countries from FBA Export. Amazon’s return policies are used to determine whether a unit fulfilled through FBA Export is eligible to be returned. You use product listings in your Seller Central account to sell FBA Export-eligible products to international customers shopping on Amazon. com. Except on Multi-Channel Fulfillment orders, sellers do not pay additional fees to use FBA Export. For more information, visit FBA Export fees.

FBA Export enrollment

Most sellers are enrolled automatically in FBA Export by default. To check your FBA Export enrollment status, click Fulfillment by Amazon in the Settings drop-down menu and go to the Export Settings group.

You can enable or disable FBA Export in Export Settings at any time.

By using FBA Export, you authorize Amazon to sign a commercial invoice on your behalf for each FBA Export shipment. This commercial invoice will itemize and describe the contents of the shipment and authorize brokers and other third parties to execute additional documents necessary for the export of your products.

Exclude countries or products from FBA Export shipments

You can change the FBA Export settings to meet your business needs by excluding countries, excluding products, or excluding some products from some countries.

To exclude countries:

In the Settings drop-down menu, click Fulfillment by Amazon.

Go to Export Settings and click Edit.

In the Shipping restrictions section, click Edit, select the countries you want to exclude, and click Save.

To exclude individual products from some or all countries:

In the Settings drop-down menu, click Fulfillment by Amazon.

Go to Export Settings and click Edit.

Click Exclude products.

Download the FBA Export exclusion file and follow the instructions in the file to exclude individual products from a country or region.

You can exclude up to 1 million non-media products through file upload.

You can edit, add, or remove products from the FBA Export exclusion list at any time.

Eligible products

For a list of products from your FBA inventory that are eligible for FBA Export, go to the Reports tab, click Fulfillment, and under Inventory click Show more to access the Exportable Inventory report. You can check the list, even if you have FBA Export disabled. We update this report periodically, so if you have no exportable products now, check again later.

Products may not be eligible for FBA Export for a variety of reasons, including:

Export restrictions:

For certain classes of products, the laws of the source country prohibit the items from shipping internationally. For example, the US government prohibits export of military products as a matter of national security. The following types of products are generally restricted for export:

Weapons and imitation weapons Plants, plant products, seeds, and soil Animals and certain animal products Surveillance equipment Laser pointers and related products

Import restrictions:

Although a source country may allow exports of an item, destination countries have their own policies regarding what may be imported. The policies vary by country. To avoid delays, customs clearance issues, and poor customer experience, Amazon generally restricts international shipment of the following types of products (this is assessed on a country-by-country basis):

Alcohol Weapons, weapon components, and weapon accessories, including defense sprays; BB, airsoft and paintball guns and parts; scopes; holsters; and carrying cases Chemicals including pesticides, fertilizers, insecticides, industrial and automotive chemicals, and certain cleaners Food, medicines, and supplements, including pet food and pet supplements Medical devices including diagnostic kits, medical alert devices, and sex determination kits Drug paraphernalia Adult products Alcohol brewing equipment Baby walkers, baby self-feeding devices, and car seats Cryptographic electronic equipment Gambling-related items and paraphernalia Imitation currency

Transportation and logistics restrictions:

Certain restrictions are based on logistics or transportation limitations. For example, products that exceed a certain size and weight are excluded from FBA Export. Transportation restrictions include:

Heavy or bulky items such as mattresses or beds Dangerous goods Large or standalone lithium ion batteries Used oil, such as cooking oil or motor oil

ASINs not yet processed:

These are items awaiting review to determine if they are eligible for FBA Export. We process new ASINs for eligibility once a month. Make sure your product has either a full product description or bullet point so it can be processed in the next cycle.

Exportable Inventory report for MWS sellers

If you use an integrated web service API to manage your Amazon business and have a Marketplace Web Service-eligible seller account, you can use the following API operation to download the latest Exportable Inventory report.

Report Type: _GET_FBA_EXPORTABLE_OFFERS_REPORT_

Report ID: 26600

Report Type: _GET_FBA_FULFILLMENT_EXPORTABLE_INVENTORY_DATA

FBA Export and product distribution agreements

If you have concerns that distribution agreements may limit where your products can be sold overseas, you can opt out of FBA Export, restrict shipments to certain countries, or exclude specific products from the program. You can do this at any time and for any reason.

Sales reports for international orders

To see a sales report for your FBA exports, go to the Reports tab, click Fulfillment, and in the left panel under Sales, click Amazon Fulfilled Shipments. You can see your FBA Export international orders by filtering the ship-to destination country.

For API Sellers, the enumeration value is _GET_AMAZON_FULFILLED_SHIPMENTS_DATA_.

International Multi-Channel Fulfillment Orders

Even if the ASIN is eligible for FBA Export, you cannot create international Multi-Channel Fulfillment orders for non-media products.

International returns for FBA Export

With FBA Export, Amazon provides fulfillment and customer service for your orders, including processing buyer returns. Amazon uses Amazon’s return policies to determine whether a unit is eligible to be returned. However, to ensure a good buyer experience, Amazon will make case-by-case exceptions and accept returns for units fulfilled through FBA that may be past the stated return time frame.

When a buyer returns a product, the standard Amazon returns policy will be followed. If the returned product is received in sellable condition, it will be returned to the original seller’s inventory. If the returned product is not in sellable condition, Amazon will determine who is at fault (Amazon or the buyer) and make reimbursement according to the FBA lost and damaged inventory reimbursement policy.

The buyer must pay the return shipping costs if there is no product defect. If there is a product defect, the buyer pays and ships the product back to Amazon’s warehouse. Amazon will compensate the buyer for the actual return shipping cost when the parcel is received.

Fees: For pricing information on Multi-Channel Fulfillment orders to international addresses, refer to FBA Export fees.

Content Gu > These guidelines apply to book content, including title, cover art, and product description.

Illegal or infringing content

We take violations of laws and proprietary rights very seriously. It is your responsibility to ensure that your content doesn't violate laws or copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights. Just because content is freely available does not mean you are free to copy and sell it.

Public domain and other non-exclusive content

Some types of content, such as public domain content, may be free to use by anyone, or may be licensed for use by more than one party. We will not accept content that is freely available on the web unless you are the copyright owner of that content. For example, if you received your book content from a source that allows you and others to re-distribute it, and the content is freely available on the web, we will not accept it for sale on the Kindle store. We do accept public domain content but may choose not to sell a public domain book if its content is undifferentiated or barely differentiated from one or more other books. Also, we do not allow companion books based on copyrighted works (e. g., summaries, study guides, etc.) to be published outside the U. S. without written permission from the copyright holder.

Poor customer experience

Books for sale on Amazon should provide a positive customer experience. We reserve the right to determine whether content provides a poor customer experience and remove that content from sale. See the Guide to Kindle Content Quality for examples of content that's typically disappointing to customers.

Other prohibited content

As a bookseller, we provide our customers with access to a variety of viewpoints, including books that some customers may find objectionable. That said, we reserve the right not to sell certain content, such as pornography or other inappropriate material.

Report violations

If you believe a book violates our guidelines, please report it.

Bobsled Marketing

Is your brand ready to sell on Amazon? Here are 3 ways to know.

Is your brand ready to sell on Amazon? Here are 3 ways to know.

Hi I'm Kiri from Bobsled Marketing. And today in this video we're going to talk about how to know if your brand is ready to start selling on Amazon.

Selling on Amazon is not really something that you can just "dip your toe into", and expect to start seeing results from. There are over 400 million product listings on Amazon, these days, and just uploading your products to to the catalog is not going to guarantee that anyone can even find your products. So it's worthwhile considering whether your company has the time, resources, and money to invest in really giving Amazon a good shot - otherwise it's just not going to be worth it.

The first thing to really get a clue into is pricing of your products and how that is going to relate back to profitability at the SKU level, once your products are available on Amazon. There is a variable component to selling on Amazon, and then there are going to be fixed fees associated with using Amazon's fulfillment network, known as FBA.

Understand the benefits of FBA. What FBA allows brands to achieve is Prime eligibility. What Amazon's own figures have shown is that sales can increase from 30 to 50% once an items is switched from merchant-fulfilled (coming directly from a brand's facility) to FBA. So this is an amazing opportunity for brands to be able to use Amazon's logistics network as if it were your own. Sometimes it can seem more expensive than using your own warehouse and fulfillment network that you've set up internally. But do the math - how much will a potentially smaller margin be offset by a fairly dramatic increase in sales once that switch occurs?

The 3rd way to know if your brand is ready to sell on Amazon is that you're prepared to make an investment in the platform. You have to be prepared for an upfront investment in getting your inventory to Amazon and setting up all of your systems, as well as understanding how Amazon's algorithm works and putting some promotional budget behind getting your brand represented in the correct way on Amazon, and allows people to feel comfortable buying from you.
